Dinh Gia That, political affairs deputy chairman of the Vietnamese Navy, has hailed the establishment of “Let’s Build Truong Sa” fund by Tuoi Tre Newspaper.
It manifests citizens’ responsibilities towards their homeland and provides the navy funds to improve the lives of troops and people living in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.
The Truong Sa fund reflects Vietnam’s policy of relying on people’s strength for national defense, doesn’t it?
Exactly. The fund is in accordance with the national policy of depending on people’s strength and resources to defend the nation.
Donations by citizens act as bricks to fortify our islands, make them cleaner, and gives soldiers and people on the islands a feeling of warmth.
The Vietnamese navy completely supports the “Let’s Build Truong Sa” fund set up by Tuoi Tre newspaper.
What do we need most now to build Truong Sa?
First of all, every person should fully understand and support the policies and points of view our Party and State have outlined for fortifying the islands.
The unity and unanimity are your actual contributions to building up might.
Besides, citizens can contribute their labor and properties through the Truong Sa fund and other programs and campaigns. They are for planting trees on the islands, protecting the environment, acquiring necessities and equipment like freezers to keep food, water filters, and others.
The equipment help islanders improve the quality of their life, meaning our defense is strengthened.
Then we citizens will have greater peace of mind and feel more secure about our territorial waters.
The recent happenings in the East Sea have worried our people. What do you have to say about the worries?
We soldiers share our citizens’ worries over China’s brazen violation of our territorial waters in the East Sea.
We should, however, be calm and defend our nation in a determined and patient manner. Donating to the Truong Sa fund is a way to fight any encroachment by invaders.
This attitude can defend our sovereignty, preserve peace, and not to fall into well-planned traps set up by violators.
Remember that we can defend our territorial waters and islands in East Sea through the combined strength and unity of the Vietnamese people, and we are strong enough to do it to keep our islands and waters in the East Sea.
How do you foresee the situation in the East Sea?
The East Sea will witness complicated happenings and possible harassments, but we are well prepared and sagacious to meet them.
Our plan to defend our nation is to use our internal strengths and depend on diplomacy so that the international community is clearly informed of our sovereignty and struggle.
