Famous blogger arrested

VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City police have arrested Le Nguyen Huong Tra or blogger Co Gai Do Long, who is accused of “slander”.

According to VNExpress online newspaper, Tra was arrested on October 23, at her house on Ban Van Tran street, Tan Binh District, HCM City. 

An investigator said that Tra wrote an entry about the family of a senior official based on an anonymous letter.

In this entry, she suggested that some beauty queens and actresses were “protected” by the official’s family because they are girlfriends of the official’s son.

Police have investigated and proved that Tra’s entry is wrong and that it has seriously harmed the prestige and honor of the related people.

Tra was a freelance of a HCM City-based newspaper and a famous blogger in Vietnam. In 2008, singer Phuong Thanh sued Tra for posting untrue entries about her.
