SEOUL -- South Korean pop group "Girls' Generation" is ready to take Japan by storm, their talent agency has announced.
"The members underwent intensive training for two to five years to prepare (for their Asian debut), from vocal training to dance and language lessons," SM Entertainment President Kim Young-min told reporters during a press conference held at the Foreign Correspondents' Club in Seoul on Nov. 1.
Kim said the company has always had an Asia-centered promotion strategy for the nine-member group since the members made their debut in South Korea in 2007.
"We are fully prepared," said Kim, adding that the group has adopted European-style music and U.S. dance trends.
Girls' Generation, which is already popular in China, Thailand and other Asian countries, made its Japanese debut in August. Their second single "Gee" entered Japan's Oricon weekly hit charts at number two on Nov. 1.
