Senior CPC official calls for cooperation between Chinese, Vietnamese newspapers

BEIJING, Aug.17 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Wednesday called for stronger exchanges and cooperation between the official newspapers of China and Vietnam.
Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with a delegation from Nhan Dan, the official newspaper of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
As the official newspapers of the two political parties, the People's Daily and Nhan Dan have been in touch for nearly 20 years and play a positive role in the development of bilateral relations between China and Vietnam, Liu said.
Liu hailed the traditional friendship between the two nations, saying that the CPC and the Chinese government treat and advance bilateral ties "from a strategic and long-term perspective."
"I hope the People's Daily and Nhan Dan will consolidate exchanges and deepen their cooperation through various means in order to continue making their due contributions to boosting the China-Vietnam traditional friendship and safeguarding the cooperation between the two parties, the two nations and the people of the two countries," Liu said.
Thuan Huu, head of the delegation and editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan, echoed Liu's remarks and pledged to boost exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese newspaper.
The delegation is visiting China at the invitation of the People's Daily.
