Problems of Vietnam football

VietNamNet Bridge – There are many problems? with virtual values in Vietnam football industry.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai football club’s Chair Doan Nguyen Duc told Tuoi Tre Daily that the current value of Vietnamese football players is much higher than the real value. He confirmed that none of Vietnamese players is worth over 5 billion dong ($225,000).

Several years ago, Dong Tam Long An club’s Chair Vo Quoc Thang said about the untrue value of Vietnamese footballers. He said his club would not join the football transfer market to not contribute to pushing up the price of football players.

The two clubs are now not the top teams at V-League because they don’t buy football stars but focus on training young talents.

An official at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said that businesses invest over 1 trillion dong a year in 28 football teams at the V-Leage and the First Division tournaments. Where does the money come from? It is sure that revenue from football tickets is very small. Businesses said that their investment in football clubs is considered as marketing expenditures.

Dr. Luong Kim Chung, former Vice Chief of the Department for Massive Sports, expressed his worries overVietnam football in a long article. Accordingly, the income of Vietnamese footballers is much higher than the average income of Vietnamese people. It is explained that the income of footballers is high because their working lifespan is short.

However, Chung said that the pay for footballers is higher than the qualification of players which is a problem.

He also said that bonus for Vietnamese football players is too high. In France, the ceiling bonus for a player in a game is up to 5000 franc but in Vietnam, there is no ceiling. At V-League 2010, Navibank granted bonus of up to 2 billion dong ( $110,000) to players after the team defeating Hanoi T&T. Ninh Binh also rewarded its players 1 billion after a winning match against Thanh Hoa.

Chung said that it’s the time for VFF and clubs to make an agreement on football transfer and salary for footballers to be appropriate with the real situation.
