Saigonee woman gives birth in cab in gridlock



VietNamNet Bridge – A pregnant woman in HCM City who was about to deliver a baby took a cab to the hospital. Because of traffic jam, she had to give birth in the cab.

According to the 39-year-old mother, she began labor in the morning of October 22. She took a taxi to the Trieu An hospital.

Due to a gridlock, she had to deliver a baby in the car. An hour after she gave birth, the taxi escaped from the traffic jam to take the mother and her baby to the hospital.

The baby arrived at the hospital in bad health condition, with his umbilical cord not yet cut off . His body turned pale and his heartbeat was very weak. Doctors did their best to save the child.

After six days in hospital, the baby has recovered, doctors said. This is the mother’s second baby.

Doctors said that cab drivers should be trained with first aid techniques to assist their passengers in emergency circumstances.
