Japan, China, S. Korean health ministers meet on Cheju Island


CHEJU ISLAND, South Korea (Kyodo) -- Health ministers from Japan, China and South Korea on Sunday discussed cooperation in dealing with the new influenza, securing food safety and offering medical treatment for people injured in natural disasters, Japanese officials said.
The ministers in charge of health issues from the three countries meet periodically. During the latest meeting that took place on Cheju Island, South Korea, they also discussed how to enhance collaboration in efforts to improve maternal and child health in developing countries.
Prior to the meeting, Japanese Health, Labor and Welfare Minister Ritsuo Hosokawa held separate talks with his Chinese and South Korean counterparts, Chen Zhu and Chin Soo Hee.
