Nguyen Viet Hung, Nguyen Ngoc Dai Nghia, Thai Quoc Kim and Pham Thi Ngoc Hieu of the Australian-owned university’s Nguyen Gia Team received A$10,000 for the LiTMUS Group Environmental Sustainability Award and A$1,000 for Judges Award for Outstanding Achievement at a function in Melbourne last week.

The environmental sustainability award was one of the major prizes of the 10th RMIT Business Plan Competition, which was opened for all RMIT students worldwide to encourage budding entrepreneurs to develop competitive business plans for original business ideas. This year, there were 116 teams taking part in the annual competition, whose prizes totaled A$92,000.

Seventeen teams from RMIT Vietnam competed in the first round but only three teams, namely Nguyen Gia, OnlineViet and Meta Intelligence Machine, were qualified for the final held in Melbourne in late September.

Nguyen Viet Hung, team leader of Nguyen Gia, said in a statement that it was a once in a lifetime experience to be in the Australian city to pitch business ideas in front of a panel of seven industry judges. The team was awarded for their proposal for environmental protection.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to contribute our environmental concept into global emerging issues and get recognition in such a prestigious business competition,” Hung said.

OnlineViet and Meta Intelligence Machine were two of the six other finalists who also got A$1,000 Judges Awards for Outstanding Achievement.

OnlineViet plans to introduce a 3D-based virtual tourism company in Vietnam to allow interactive information between tourism service providers and potential tourists by providing information in an innovative online platform.
